When it comes to Google Places marketing, one of the most important aspects is the business name, address and phone (known as NAP).  Google Places pulls information, reviews, and business information from a number of different business directories.  The only way Google can reconcile this information with other directories is by reconciling the NAP information.  So, if the address isn’t correct or the phone number is different, then the Google Listing won’t be able to pull in the data. For a local business, the difference between success and failure could be the position their business listing has in Google Places. Google Places is Google's local search directory. If you type in a geographically targeted keyword phrase like "tanning salon in san diego, ca" you will get targeted results from Google Places and then organic results.
